Bonsai Classes & Workshops
Welcome to the John Hanby Bonsai School class schedule
NEW PRICING STRUCTURE - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Regrettably due to spiralling costs and the economic climate we will reluctantly have to increase class fees. This is only the second increase in 7 years. From 1st August the cost of a full day class will now be £25.00. However….. if all the trees that the student brings to a class were purchased directly from our nursery then the cost of the class will be reduced to £20.00. This reduction is a reward for customer loyalty and a measure of our appreciation for your continued support. Customers purchasing trees from us will now have the added advantage of being able to develop the tree further by attending classes at this reduced rate.
The Extra Time class will cost £42.50 with a reduced rate of £37.50 if all trees were purchased from the nursery.
The Beginners and Academy classes will cost £20.00.
Classes can be booked by paying a deposit of £5 for each class. Each deposit is non-transferable and non-refundable. However, if we have to cancel or change a class an alternative date or refund will be offered.
If you are interested in joining a new Level One Academy Class for 2011 please contact John.
If you have a tree/trees that you feel requires a bit more time and attention or you just want a day dedicated to you and your trees, why not consider a one to one? One to two and one to three workshops also available. Contact the nursery for further details.

Project Bonsai
Saturday 11 September | 10am – 4pm
In the West bonsai enthusiasts are impatient, we want everything now…today…it is our general way of life. When we create bonsai we want an instant finished image. This criteria has set the trend for demonstrations and workshops. This is not the Japanese way. Their approach is simplified, perhaps less dramatic, but has total respect for the tree, and is ultimately more effective. I have experienced this first-hand in my classes with Japanese Bonsai Master Kawabe. Project Bonsai is for 10-12 students who wanted to start a new tree. This needed to be an impressive piece of material that we can take to a high level using the Japanese approach. Each tree should be significant so that the learning experience for the group as a whole is both exciting and rewarding. For further information contact John. A FEW SPACES AVAILABLE.
