The juniper before John and Derek commenced work |
The tree was studied closely from all sides to evaluate the best
front and to choose the branch placement for the tree. This stage
is crucial to the styling of the Bonsai, and can take some time
to make the right decision. |
The Juniper is removed from the training pot to help find the right angle and 'line' of the tree |
After studying the Juniper and finding the right 'line', the Juniper was then carefully styled to create an elegant Bonsai |

All old foliage was removed leaving healthy upward growing foliage to allow back-budding and the creation of domed pads.
The deadwood was incorporated into the overall design of the Bonsai, with the branches echoing the movement to create an elegant, unified design. |
The tree completed - for this stage of its development
Over the coming months each foliage pad will be developed to become
more dense and compact
