Did somebody say a light pruning?

Working at a clients home, after I had pruned and repotted her bonsai she asked me if I could give a magnolia bush a bit of pruning.

I made a promising start!…..

…..and then I got carried away!

The bush had been largely left untouched for many years and had extended both ways along the border rampant through adjoining shrubs. Branches were totally entangled.

The entanglement has gone and space is introduced. This is a good start but will need to be followed up with regular annual pruning to enhance its shape and overall profile.
