Memory Lane – October 2006…..a few nursery pictures!
The early years of the nursery and I have to say looking at these pictures I do think we had a bit of something for everyone.
Take a close look into some of these pictures…..we have sold some really nice pieces of material over the years……and we strive to continue this trend!
Maybe you will see an early picture of one of your trees?
Wonder where they all are now………..??
Cotoneaster Special Workshop Sunday 9th July
We have ten field grown Cotoneasters ready for their initial styling. Flowering trees with an abundance of red berries in the Autumn.
The price of the full day workshop includes a tree. Take as long as you want to work on the Cotoneaster and then bring one of your own trees along for help and advice to complete the day.
The cost of the workshop including the tree is £100. Reserve your tree and a place on the workshop by paying a £5 deposit. Trees reserved on a first come first served basis…..so hurry up!
An open window into the comings and goings of students and their trees attending our regular weekend and midweek bonsai classes under the ever watchful eyes of John Hanby.
Classroom Corner – It’s that trimming time of year again….
These pictures were all taken on a recent midweek class. All the trees had shown good growth this year so now it was time to carry out some pruning work to push the tree into it’s next stage of development.
This involved structural, maintenance and refinement pruning work.
Sometimes I work on nursery trees, sometimes I work on client’s trees……and sometimes if I’ve been a really good boy I get to work on my own trees. Hopefully these regular visits will give you an insight into what goes on behind closed doors……….
Studio Stories – Taxus Cuspidata from Japan
This very old hollow trunk Taxus originated in Japan. I am not sure how long it has been in Europe but I have had it for about 5/6 years.
At the end of April I repotted the tree and carried out some general structural pruning to prepare the tree ready for styling in the autumn.
