Bringing John’s Beech Together!

John brought a few plantings of young Beech trees to the class. They were a bit insignificant on their own so we decided to bring them together to form a larger forest planting.

Straight away this looks much more impressive and the whole composition seems to have aged considerably in an instant. Despite the constraints of the established clumps they are brought together using our normal forest planting guidelines.
Scope for a path or dried river bed to run through the centre of the planting.
The finished group after adding compost and a first pruning. Note the spatial elements within the pot to enhance the feeling of a landscape.

A simple transformation from basic material into something that can now develop into an excellent forest planting which we can continue to refine and improve.
